Making Progress

We brought Sophia to see her cardiologist today because Thursday when I was giving her lovenox shots I noticed that it didn't go through the needle. Later that night when I got home, I looked through some of her older needles and I noticed they still had the medication in them as well. Of course this freaked me out and I hated that I had to wait until Friday morning to call her cardiologist. So, I called and they had us come in today instead of September 30. Sophia know weighs 10 lbs 12 oz, which is 8 ounces in 11 days! She is doing so well. They gave her an echo as well and Dr. Wellman said that her heart looks good. There is still a little hole where they repaired her hole, but he thinks it will close on it's own. He wasn't able to look at her aortic arch as well as he wanted because she was being difficult, but he did think that she looked good. He also looked at the atery in the left side of her heart and it looks very good as well. He didn't know exactly how big it is supposed to be at her age, he was going to look then tell us next time, but he did see blood going through it...which is great because that was the part of her heart that they were worried about. He did look at her clot and said that it looked good as well, which was definitely a relief for me seeing as though, it had been close to a month since she had been getting her blood clot medication. He wants us to keep her in the shots for at least another 6 weeks and when we go and see him in November they will look again and see how it looks. They have taken her off of all of her other medications as well. He didn't think she need the lasiks and when he looked to see the dosage she was taking of her propanalol, he said that it wasn't affecting her in any way. I'm still very nervous to think of her as a "normal" baby girl, but hopefully in a few months I will be able to.
On another note, I wanted to ask everyone to pray for Baby Mia. Many of you may not know her, but she was the baby that was born the same day as Sophia and they were transported to Children's together. Mia is still waiting for a heart and hanging in there, but she still needs our prayers. My baby girl got her miracle, let's pray for baby Mia to get her's.
