Three years ago today, I sat in a NICU room at Seattle Children's hospital waiting to find out when they were going to perform open heart surgery on my newborn daughter. (we'll get more into that next week on the anniversary of her surgery) Today I have reminisced so much on how far Sophia's has come and the few bumps in the road we have had to this day. (Getting the phone call at 2 in the morning that her heart rate kept dipping into the 80's; being Medivaced back to Seattle at four months because of major scarring) Today Sophia is a firey and rambunctious three year old who gives me and Jason a run for our money, but loves life more than anyone I have ever seen.
We had Sophia's birthday at Arctic Playgroundz, and indoor play park here in Anchorage. Alaska in July can be pretty fickle, so I was worried about having her party at an actual park and it rain the entire time. The weather outside wasn't too bad, but I think the girls had so much fun! They had the whole thing to themselves and three other friends, it was a small party, which was actually really nice as well :)Sophia got some great presents, including on from my dad (thanks mom!) All in all, this has been a great birthday for our little firecracker and I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us!!
