Look Who's Walking

So I will do my big blog for a year of course next week, but I was just too excited to wait until next week! Sophia started walking yesterday. Jason told me that when he went to pick her up at his mom's house she took 10 steps to him. I didn't really believe him because just the day before, she was still really wobbly and holding on to things. So, I stood back from her and asked her to come to me and sure enough, she started walking! It is so incredibly hard to put into words how it feels to see her walking. A little over six months ago as we were flying to Seattle, I didn't know if she would be coming home with us and now she is a walking, almost talking monster. She also did the sign for please today which we have been working on quite hard.

Should I Let Out My Breath?

Sophia had her first cardiology appointment in two months and I was SUPER nervous. The last time we were there, Dr. Wellman told us that her pressures were better, but he didn't trust her. When we first went in, her blood pressure was so good, I couldn't believe it, it was the lowest it has ever been. We then went back for the echo and boy do I wish I had the camera there? She fussed a little bit, but not too bad. This could be attributed to the fact that we brought half of her toy box, two snacks, her sippy cup and her binkie! Hey, we're experts at this point right?! So we were only in the exam room for a little under an hour and Dr. Wellman said he was pleased with what he got. He said the differences in the pressures this time was 30, which is what it was last time, so he wasn't too concerned. I then commented that her blood pressure this time was lower then it has ever been and he asked that his nurse do one more, this one on her arms. When they did this one, it was higher then the one they got before, but Dr. Wellman said it was what he got when he did the echo!!! That was such wonderful news to me! We don't get to see him again until Sepetember...which again, makes me SOOOO nervous, but Sophia seems to be doing well and this makes me happy. I did talk to him about the possibility of her getting tubes and he said she should be able to tolerate it, so we'll have to jump that hurdle once we get there. Plus he wasn't surprised when I told him about that!

Should I Consider Nursing?

So, how many of you heart mommies could get into not only nursing, but maybe even cardiology? Poor Sophia has had three consecutive ear infections and we are starting to get the next one and you are referred to an ENT talk. So The poor baby has had a rough go of it this week and on Monday the poor baby had eyes so swollen that she could hardly see out of them. She also had this really yucky puss coming out. So, I told Jason that I thought her tear ducts were blocked. Well, sure enough, when Jason took her into the doctor to get her shot (yes, she is now getting shots for her ear infections because this is the best way to get the medicaiton into her system) and Jason talked to him about her eyes he todl Jason that her tear ducts were blocked. So this is when I decided to change my profession to nursing. Not sure if I am truly serious about this, but hey...it's a thought. We have an appointment with Dr. Wellman on Monday, so keep Miss Sophia in your prayers for a normal, clear echo!

To My Husband

So I have made this blog pretty much about Sophia for the last year and I will continue to try and do so until she is a year, then we'll update it more for the family, but I thought it would be important to write something to my husband! Yesterday (May 31) was our 6 year anniversary. Jason and I have been through so much in this last year and I really want to just thank him for putting up with me for this last year. I know that I haven't been the easiest person to live with this last year, but Jason has really been the person who got me through this all. He likes to say that me and my strength was what helped him, but I don't buy it...it was him and I just want to say thank you Jason. I love you as much as I did the day we were married and I'm glad you "chose" me!
