CHD Awareness Week
February 7-14 is Congenital Heart Defect week and I am going to piggy back off another heart mommy friends page. I am going to post something every day this week about CHD and about my precious Sophia. I'm going to start the week, sort of on a soap box. We'll get more into the anniversary of when I found out about Sophia's heart condition next month, but I want to put a plug out to all the mother's or soon to be mother's out there on the importance of ultrasounds during pregnancy. Studies are changing and the new "trend" out is that ultrasounds cause autism in children. I completely understand a parents hesitation to get an ultrasound if this is true, but the alternative is much worse in my opinion. Had I not gone in and had an ultrasound, we never would have know about Sophia's heart condition and the extra heart valves she had in-utero closed, she more than likely would have died. There would have been no way to know what was going on and it would have been very risky to me Medivaced to Seattle. I owe my daughter's life to the two ultrasound tech's that caught her condition. Without them I wouldn't have my Sophia and I wouldn't know all of the wonderful people that I have met on Sophia's journey. Ok, now I'm off my soap box!!
