Home Sweet Home

Okay so I suck! I can at least attempt to blame my not updating on the fact that I didn't have a spare cable for our room at the Ronald McDonald house, but I could have gone to their computer room and at least posted without pictures. Oh well...here is an update anyway! Sophia is doing very well. She was discharged from the hospital early Friday morning and has been doing really well since then. I had my favorite nurse (Liz) the first night. She was Sophia's nurse for a couple days when we were in Seattle the first time. She was the kind one that was patient with me and helped me place Sophia's NG tube and helped show me how to give her the lovanox shots. Actually, all three nurses we had while we were at the hospital were fabulous! It's wonderful to have such caring people there for you when you are going through so much. Here are the pictures that I promised of Sophia's aortic arch before and after the angioplasty. We are going to see Dr. Wellman at the end of February and we see Dr. Penman for her synagis vaccine in a couple weeks, so I am anxious to see what they think about her! If anyone reading the blog knows of a great place to get an electric pediatric blood pressure cuff, please let me know. I meant to ask while I was in Seattle, but I forgot and they don't sale any here in Alaska. I think it would great to be able to take Sophia's blood pressure once a week here at home. Thanks!

The white on the top and bottom of the stent is the obstruction of scar tissue. The dark is the blood flow. This is before the angioplasty.

Here is a picture after the angioplasty. Notice the darker section is bigger.

Hi there, I just signed up as a follower of yours. I haven't been to your page before today, but am excited to find another CHD kid in AK. We live in Glennallen. Feel free to check out our blog handfamilysbest@blogspot.com or my daughters caring bridge website. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/nataliehand.

We use Seattle Children's too. It would be fun to compare notes on what it's like to live in AK with a CHD kid.

Talia, I'm so glad everything went so well in Seattle. Have you looked on-line for the blood pressure cuff thingy? (Probably a stupid question to all you computer masters.) :) Love you and keep up the good work. Grandma
