Movin' On Up (Actually she went down the hall, but close enough)

Sophia had a big day on Monday. She was moved to the "bridge" part of the ICU, which was the step before "the floor" and by Monday afternoon she was moved to the floor. This is going to be the last stop on her "tour" of the hospital. Once she is cleared from the floor, she will be discharged from the hospital all together. They have tried feeding her, but she isn't eating well, so they had an occupational/physical therapist come and help. She visited us yesterday (Tuesday) and told us that Sophia is having a hard time learning to swallow right now. She is taking the milk (my breast milk) and then she is stopping breathing, swallowing, then starting to breathe again. They are going to give her a few days (since she was just taken off the venitalor on Sunday) and then we will try again. They also told us that they found a small blood clot, but they caught it early and they are giving her a blood thinner to help. They said that she will be on the blood thinner for a while, but she should be fine. The surgeon came in and told us this was common and he is alarmed by it. I talked to the surgeon today and he said that he expects Sophia to be discharged sometime early to mid next week! This is great and hopefully we'll get and actual day soon. They aren't concerned about her NG tube and her medication because they are going to show me how to give them to her. I am pretty nervous about learning these new things, but this is the smallest thing we have had to deal with and I am anxious to get my baby girl home.
