Surgery Update 2

Baby Sophia had her surgery yesterday (Tuesday July 15). They took her in at 9 am and the finished shortly after 12. The surgeon came out and told us that the hole in her heart was bigger than they thought it was, but they were able to sucessfully close it and that they were able to reconstruct her arch without having to make a new artery for the left lower part of her body. He left her chest open because she had a little bit of an irregular heartbeat and they didn't want to irritate her heart by closing her chest. Jason and I went in and saw her a little after 2 and she looks well. She is really puffy and swollen, but that is normal for surgery patients. We went and visited her today and she is doing very well. (still a little afraid to say great, but I'm getting there) She was a little restless this morning when they tried to turn her, but they sedated her and she slept the majority of the day. The doctor's are going to close her chest on Friday and then they will remove her chest tubes and her respirator. Tomorrow they are going to put her on lasiks (probably not spelled right) to help her urinate which will help with the puffiness. Thank you to everyone who has sent prayers and wishes to my baby girl, hopefully you will all get to meet her very soon!
